10.1-inch Acer W510 due to arrive on November 9 with $500 start price

Acer has revealed the pricing and ship dates for its second Windows 8-powered tablet, the Iconia W510. It will slot in below the Iconia W700 and follow that tablet's October 26 release date, arriving in stores on November 9. It will carry a $500 starting price and pack a 10.1-inch, IPS touchscreen with 1,366x768 resolution.

Processing power comes from a 1.5GHz dual-core Atom Z2760, dubbed Clover Trail. The W700, in contrast, uses the more expensive Ivy Bridge Core i3 or Core i5 chips. There is also 2GB of RAM, and while the standard models get 32GB of SSD storage space, there is an optional 64GB drive as well. Either way, it can be expanded thanks to a microSD memory card slot.

Otherwise, buyers can expect a microUSB and microHDMI ports, as well as a Wi-Fi a/b/g/n radio. The prerequisite g-sensor, digital compass, and gyroscope are present as well. A two-megapixel camera faces the user, while an eight-megapixel shooter sits out back, complete with autofocus and an LED flash.

While the tablet on its own is just 0.35-inch thick, clicking it into the optional keyboard dock more than doubles it to 0.84 inches. Together, they weigh just over 2.6lbs. The keyboard adds a full-sized USB port and a battery of its own to double life from 9 to 18.

The model breakdown includes the standard model for $500, with a 64GB version that includes the dock selling for $750. An enterprise version, the Iconia W510P, includes a Trusted Platform Module and gets an $800 price tag. [via SlashGear]
