GitHub Mac upgraded to 'Kona,' adds username autocompletion
The latest version of coding distributed version control system GitHub for Mac has been released, codenamed Kona. The new version fixes eight bugs, updates the application's internal git version, and adds auto-completion of user names. As of this revision, GitHub no longer supports OS X versions older than 10.7 Lion. Plans for the service range from free for open source with unlimited public repositories to $200 per month for 125 private repositories. The newest version is available at mac.github.commac.github.com.
Experimental OS X Anti-phishing software suite launched
Security vendor Blumalerts has released a new anti-phishing software package for Max OS X. The software is compatible with Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Opera, on a Macintosh running OS X 10.6 or greater. The software checks the user's entered URL with the Blumalerts database, and informs the user prior to following the link or entered URL as to the validity of the website. A lifetime license costs $8, and is available from the vendor's website.
Insider Software FontAgent Pro upgraded
OS X font management package FontAgent Pro has been updated to version 5. FontAgent Pro Version 5 is available in a Standard Edition, Workgroup Edition and a variety of Server Editions ranging from a TeamServer Edition for 5 users and extending all the way up to Enterprise Server options providing replication with fail-over, live backup and one-click directory services integration. The new version includes an Adobe CS6 auto-activation plug-in, Smasher integration, a new user interface, a glyph palette with drag-and-drop character viewing, Retina display support, and enhanced font integrity checking. FontAgent Pro 5 for Mac is free to users who have current support and maintenance agreements or who purchased FontAgent Pro 4 after May 1, 2012. Other FontAgent Pro 4 Standard Edition users can upgrade in the Insider online store for $50. For a limited time, licensees of FontAgent Pro 3 can license the new version for $50.
