Speakers use 30-pin connector, Bluetooth
Speaker manufacturer Edifier has released two speaker docks for iOS and other handhelds. Using the old 30-pin connector found in older iOS devices instead of the Lightning port, the Esiena and Bric both still allow for connectivity to the iPhone 5 and other handsets wirelessly over Bluetooth, or through a 3.5mm auxiliary input port.
The Esiena offers a claimed "big system" sound quality in a small package. The 3-inch magnetically shielded full range drivers are supported by a class D digital amplifier and dual bass ports. A digital FM radio with alarm function is built in, and it can also receive audio from USB and SD Card sources, The Bric is the portable option, with 2 3/4-inch shielded full range drivers with the digital amp, but this time with a Bass Reflex port. Power can be supplied through AC and 6 AA batteries, and a travel pouch and AUX cable are also supplied.
Both speaker docks are on sale, with the Esiena at $300, and $100 for the Bric.
