Factory-standard MacBook Pro altered for tablet form factor

As expected, preorders for the tablet-enabled Modbook Pro have commenced The full-conversion of a 13-inch MacBook Pro can be reserved for $500, with a final price of $3,499. The ModBook pro sports a 2.5GHz or 2.9Ghz processor, up to 16GB of RAM, a screen and stylus with 512 discrete pressure levels, and up to 480GB of SSD storage.

The purchasing of the system is a four-step process. Each step requires specific authorization by the purchaser to continue. The first step is the Modbook Pro Build Kit which includes the enclosure, pen tablet digitizer, and LCD panel. Step two is the authorization of Modbook, Inc to act as the purchaser's agent to procure a MacBook Pro computer for the build. Step three gives explicit permission for the build-to-order technicians to make the modifications on the Apple hardware to allow fitting into the custom enclosure. The fourth step discusses and forces the user to acknowledge that the modification process voids the Apple warranty on the purchased hardware, and informs the user that Modbook, Inc will provide the user with a one-year warranty.

Power is still provided by an Apple-standard 60W Magsafe adapter. Boot Camp functionality, allowing multiple non-OS X operating system installations, remains unaffected by the modification. The second USB port normally available on the 13" MacBook Pro is utilized by the Wacom pen interface and unavailable to the user. The stock MacBook Pro FaceTime camera, previously known as an iSight, was available in the previous revision of this product based on the non-unibody MacBook, but has been removed for this iteration. The keyboard, trackpad, and much of the original case has also been removed.

JUNK - JUNK - JUNK!!!

Please save your Money, this is the second time they are bringing this ModBook to market.
The first one was a plague of problems (I Have several) and NONE of them worked much at all.
The company Axiotron made the conversion kits for the MacBooks, and sold them through OWC,
in Chicago, IL. It was first a 2 year wait to get it delivered from the time the orders were placed,
2 YEARS!!!! They arrived in a nonworking config that had serious heat problems, and the internal
fans would run so hard that the Mic for the iChat Camera would make you have to scream just to
be heard on the other end. A promise of screen rotation, that never came to be, and blamed on
Apple's Hardware configs. A Jumping Pointer on the screen that made it completely useless to
draw with. Turned out it was a Magnetic Shielding issue, that had to be fixed back in Chicago,
where it took forever to get done. Plus the Screen lineup of the pointer would never lineup after using
it for a few minutes. Freezing tracking Pads that required a hardware reset of the system each time.
Yes I'm Mad and bitter about all the promises that never came true of the Modbook 1 which after
spending $3,288 on version one, is now selling on EBay for $800.

The Modbook Pro was introduced at MacWorld 4 YEARS AGO as a 15" screen with touch & pen
interface. It made the Headliners of Macworld San Francisco 0ver 4 Years Ago. The Owner Haas,
recorded an interview saying they are shipping Mid year. 4 YEARS AGO!!!!!!

Axiotron went under, and I'm glad. They had no support staff to deal with any customers. They ignored
all support requests from their customer base. Now 5 years later the original owners pop up again
with a new name of the company calling it just Modbook. Please guys, its a joke at this point!
The priced configured to compete with 8GB RAM, i7 Processor, and 240GB SSD, is more money then
buying a fully loaded macbook Pro Retina. A fully config system Modbook is going to set yo back over
$4,300.00 PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

PEOPLE SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! you can buy 9 iPads 3's for the same price.

Im just Sick of hearing about all this, and a delivery schedule of 6-8 weeks with a required $500 deposit too!!!!
You will be lucky to see even one before December, and that could be a Dec 2013 or 2014.
