updated 07:24 am EDT, Tue October 2, 2012

One X, One S gets update in October, One XL later in year

HTC has revealed its schedule for updating some of its handsets to Jelly Bean later this year. Previously, the company confirmed that part of its One series of handsets will receive the Android 4.1 update, with some software changes found in the newly announced One X+ also being included in the release.

Among the updates for the Sense 4+ addition to HTC's version of Jelly Bean are a number of minor changes to its UI. HTC Watch 2 will be added, forming a central hub for video content from streaming services, and a similar Gallery app will combine images from Facebook, Dropbox, and others. Support for the online configuration tool Get Started, built from the purchase of Dashwire, will allow users to set up and customize their handset through a web browser, making configuring the phone simpler.

The new software will roll out to the One X and the One S later this month, while the One XL will see the update in November or possibly even December. [via Android Community]
