LTE from carrier now covers 60 percent of population

Rogers has expanded its LTE coverage in Canada by 18 new markets. Previously promised in July, the expansion sees the carrier's LTE network grow enough to cover 60-percent of the Canadian population, only months into its second year of deployment in the country. This forms part of the company's $500 million plan for widespread LTE coverage by the end of the year.

The expansion now covers Victoria, Abbotsford, and Kelowna in British Columbia; Edmonton in Alberta, Saskatoon and Regina in Saskatchewan, St Catharines area, Oshawa area, Windsor, Sudbury, Kingston, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, London, Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and Barrie in Ontario; and Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivières and Quebec in Quebec.

LTE from the carrier is already available in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, St. John's, Moncton, and other surrounding cities. It originally launched in Ottawa on July 7 last year, shortly before expanding to other markets. [via RedBoard]
