Duo Gamer controller for iPad comes sanctioned by Apple

Duo has launched the Duo Gamer with ‘Made for iPad’ certification. The new controller includes dual analog sticks, a D-pad and four buttons for traditional button-bashing gameplay using an iPad. The product was designed in conjunction with Gameloft and works exclusively with Gameloft games; a fact given away by the Gameloft co-branding that appears on the included iPad stand.

Supported games so far include N.O.V.A. 3,
Asphalt 7: Heat, and Order & Chaos Online. Brothers in Arms 2: Global Front and Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation will add support for the Duo Gamer soon, as will others. As the video embedded below shows, two players can engage in multiplayer gaming over Airplay using an Apple TV connected to and HD television.

The Duo Gamer will be available for purchase at Apple stores as well as Amazon, Best Buy and Target for $80. International availability is expected for in the fall of 2012. The full list of supported iOS devices includes the iPad 1, iPad 2, iPad (3rd generation), iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch (5th generation), and iPod touch (4th generation). No open SDK?!? How lame! This thing is roadkill before it even hits the starting gate.
