Samsung sees Note 2 selling faster, no iPhone 5 impact

Samsung says iPhone unlikely to impact Note 2 sales

Samsung expects its Galaxy Note II smartphone will debut to even swifter sales than did its predecessor. As Bloomberg details, Samsung executives gave their optimistic projections for the new phablet yesterday at a press briefing, though they stopped short of any precise figure. The South Korean manufacturer expects that the new Note could sell three times as quickly as the first version did.

The original Note, since its debut last year, has gone on to sell more than 10 million units worldwide, two or three million of which were within Samsung's home country of South Korea. The new version features a larger screen while maintaining roughly the same footprint. It also has improvements to its stylus software and runs the latest version of Google's Android operating system.

Samsung executives said that they don't expect that the iPhone 5's considerable opening sales numbers would have an impact on the Note II. The new Note is expected to go on sale in the US late in October, and Samsung has already begun sending out invites to a media event scheduled for late into next month.
