HP announces Pavilion, ProBook additions

Sleekbooks, ProBook 4400 line, 4500 line announced

HP announced today a range of new notebook PCs aimed at differing sectors. The Pavilion Sleekbook 14 and 15 are aimed at delivering performance in the ultra-thin form factor that has become the standard for portable computers of late. The 4400 and 4500 lines are aimed at business customers, providing the power to tackle intensive work assignments in a portable frame.

The Sleekbook 14 features a 14-inch display, while the Sleekbook 15 has a 15.6-inch display. Both models' displays output in high-definition, and the two models can cary up to 1TB of storage for apps, movies, music, photos, and documents. They feature HDMI, USB 3.0, and USB 2.0 ports for connecting to mobile devices and accessories. The Sleekbook 15 integrates a full numeric keypad in addition to its full keyboard.

The two models also feature HP TrueVision Webcams and HP MyRoom for video calls and photo sharing, as well as Dolby Advanced Audio included standard. Customers can choose to upgrade to an NVIDIA discrete graphics card for improved gaming performance, as well.

The Sleekbook 14 features an AMD processor, while the Sleekbook 15 has an Intel processor and features Intel Hyper-Threading technology for improved multitasking. The Sleekbook 14 starts at $500, while the Sleekbook 15 starts at $560. Both models will be available in the United States on October 26.

The HP ProBook 4445, 4446, and 4545 are equipped with 2012 AMD A-Series accelerated processors and VISION Pro Technology. They also feature AMD Enduro Technology, allowing for improved graphics performance when plugged in and better battery management when unplugged. All ProBook s-series notebooks also have the option for AMD Radeon Dual Graphics for high-end 3D rendering processing performance. The ProBook series will start at $499. The ProBook 4545 is currently available worldwide, while the ProBook 4445 and 4446 will be available only in the Asia-Pacific and Japan regions.
