iPhoto, iMovie, Podcasts, among overhauled titles

In parallel with the launch of iOS 6, Apple has also updated many of its iOS apps available at the App Store. These include: GarageBand, Keynote, Numbers, iPhoto, iMovie, Cards, Find My Friends, Find My iPhone, iTunes U, Podcasts, iTunes Movie Trailers, and Remote. In most cases iOS 6 support is the focus, but some of the updates do make additional changes.

GarageBand, for instance, now supports custom alert/ringtone creation and importing songs from a Music library, and can both play and record tracks in the background. Find My Friends has gained favorites, friend suggestions, and location-based alerts, while Find My iPhone incorporates a Lost Mode, a battery charge indicator, and "forever login," which keeps devices logged in so long as a passcode is enabled. Podcasts has been enhanced with features like iCloud subscription sync, pull-to-refresh, and the ability to restrict downloads to Wi-Fi.

iMovie and iPhoto have received substantial updates. The former has three new trailer types, split audio edits on the iPad, and 1080p uploads, among other enhancements. iPhoto has been massively improved, for example adding iPod touch compatibility, support for images up to 36.5 megapixels, and the ability to import full-resolution images using iTunes File Sharing. Tag albums can be generated using custom tags, tilt-shift and gradient effects can be rotated, and sharing options have been expanded.

In certain circumstances, features and/or the apps themselves require iOS 6.
