LG Optimus G with quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro due November

The LG Optimus G Android superphone is headed to the U.S. in November, following its home market launch next week. While the iPhone 5 appears to have leapfrogged the Samsung Galaxy S III quad-core variant in performance, it is likely that benchmarks will reveal that the Optimus G will beat out both. The Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro 'Krait' quad-core chip powering custom ARM-based design is clocked at 1.5GHz and is paired with 2GB of RAM.

The Optimus G is also a 4G LTE-capable device and runs Android 4.0.4 'Ice Cream Sandwich.' It centers on a 4.7-inch WXGA IPS-LCD display with a resolution of 1280x768 with a 15:9 ratio, while its on-boad storage is capped at 32GB. The rear camera is 8-megapixels (or up to 13-megapixels depending on market) with the front rated at 1.3-megapixels.

The device is fitted with a 2,100mAh battery that is said to be good for 15 hours of talk time or 335 hours on standby. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11n, MHL, DLNA and NFC while the Optimus G measures 8.45mm thick. It weighs in at 145 grams.

LG has also tweaked the OS with additional functionality including Live Zooming, Dual Screen Dual Play (where the phone can simultaneously display one movie, while outputting a different movie to an HD television) as well as a Smart Shutter function. Although U.S. pricing has yet to be confirmed, the device is selling off-contract for the equivalent of $895 in South Korea.
