Fashion show short film made with Google Glass on YouTube

updated 07:15 pm EDT, Fri September 14, 2012

Film includes cameo by Sergey Brin

A short video filmed solely with the Google Glass eyewear has appeared online. The four-minute piece uploaded to YouTube shows scenes before, on, and behind the catwalk at New York Fashion Week, as part of designer Diane von Furstenberg's runway show for her spring 2013 collection.

Entitled DVF (through Glass), the film shows the designer's view as she puts on the show, and is also worn by models as an accessory for outfits. Towards the end of the video, Co-founder of Google Sergey Brin appears in the audience, congratulating von Furstenberg while also filming with his own Glass.

Although the video does not show off the user interface as seen by the wearer, it does demonstrate the video quality possible with the device. The decision to allow the designer use of the Google Glass may be an attempt to make the headset viewed by the mainstream, with News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch calling it "Genius" on Twitter. I'm pretty sure some content was not shot through Glass. There's a distinct variation in quality & stability between the presumed Glass shots and others. It's not a problem to do this - people understand the desire to have a visually pleasing result, but don't claim something that isn't the case.
