UK 4G LTE version to have Jelly Bean preinstalled

The Samsung Galaxy S III will receive an update to Android 4.1 in October. A statement from the manufacturer confirmed the month for the Jelly Bean software upgrade but not the date itself, according to CNET. The 4G version of the S III that will launch on EE in the UK will have Jelly Bean installed from the start.

An early version of the update leaked online late last month, allowing users to try the T-Mobile version far earlier than intended. Although the leaked version had issues with the stock browser, video player, and Wi-Fi, it did demonstrate that the TouchWiz interface made the jump, and Google Now was also kept despite Samsung supplying S Voice with the device.

An update for Jelly Bean has already been issued for the Galaxy Nexus, while members of the XDA-Developers forum managed to get the operating system to run on the T-Mobile G1, albeit with a number of features not functioning correctly.
