Cinema Camera gets passive Micro Four Thirds version, same price

Blackmagic Design has just added a version of its Cinema Camera that supports Micro Four Thirds lenses. The older camera will get an EF suffix to differentiate the two. The new camera will accept Passive Micro Four Thirds lenses with a manual iris and focus, though adapter rings will allow mounting other types of lenses as well.

The remaining specs are identical to the older camera, including a 2.5K sensor, a Thunderbolt and SDI 3Gbps connection, capacitive touchscreen, and 13 stops of dynamic range. The camera can record 1080p HD video at 23.98-, 24-, 25-, 29.97- and 30fps. There is also an integrated SSD that lets users record in CinemaDNG RAW, Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD formats.

The Cinema Camera MFT will arrive in stores this December, priced at the same $2,995 as the EF model. The camera will be bundled with DaVinci Resolve and Blackmagic UltraScope software.
