Windows shot out at Texas Dell campus building

updated 09:58 pm EDT, Thu September 6, 2012

Unknown number of shots fired, no motive known or arrests made

Building seven of the Dell Round Rock, TX international headquarters came under gunfire Monday night, though no employees or bystanders were harmed in the assaunlt. Three windows were struck by small-arms fine from an assailant on a bicycle who evaded a police blockade and a helicopter search. No injuries were reported, no arrests have been made, and investigators have discovered no apparent motive in the shooting.

Police set up a perimeter around several interconnected buildings on the Dell campus after a witness said he saw someone with a gun riding on the trails adjacent to the campus. The shots were heard by a technical support team that was working in the building.

The Round Rock police department has been involved in a firearm-related incident at the Dell campus previously. In 2011, two Dell employees were arrested for an internal PR stunt gone wrong, when the pair ran through offices wearing masks and ordering employees to run to the lobby, where the Dell Streak tablet was due to be announced. The pair allegedly refused to comply with orders given by the SWAT team summoned by panicked employees and were later arrested.
