Fujifilm X-E1 set to take on Sony NEX 7

After first coming to light a few weeks ago, the retro-styled Fujifilm X-E1 mirrorless camera is now official. The compact camera also sports the same 16.3-megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor from the X-Pro1, while it also supports any X-Mount interchangeable lenses. It comes in two styles, a two-tone black and silver model and an all-black version.

The device incorporates a high-resolution 2.36 million dot OLED viewfinder, coupled with a 2.8-inch LCD display. It also includes a built-in pop-up TTL flash, while its ISO range is 100-25600. The X-E1 also features an in-built RAW converter and includes film simulation modes including Velvia, ASTIA, PROVIA, Monochrome, Sepia, PRO Neg.Std & PRO Neg.Hi. Fujifilm also say the X-E1 can take up to 350 shots per charge.

The bundled XF18-55mm lens combines a linear motor with the high-speed signal readout of the X-Trans CMOS sensor and an EXR Processor Pro, to achieve fast AF speeds and with contrast detection that brings a subject into sharp focus in as little as 0.1 seconds. The all-glass lens structure consists of 14 elements in 10 groups, including 3 aspherical lenses and 1 extra low dispersion element, as well as a seven-blade rounded diaphragm.

The Fujifilm X-E1with bundled lens will be out in November for $1400.
