Car smashes through Temecula facade
Apple has confirmed plans to launch its first retail store in Sweden. As previously rumored, the outlet will open in Täby Centrum, a mall in the suburbs of Stockholm. The debut has been set for 10AM on September 15th; notably the Täby store will also be Apple's first in all of Scandinavia, despite the relative wealth of markets like Sweden and Norway.
In the US, meanwhile, the company has been hit by a smash-and-grab robbery at its Temecula, California location. A car was used to demolish the entire front glass and security grating of the facade, allowing the robbers to grab an unspecified amount of products. The impact was enough to reach display tables in the store, which were moved or damaged.
While glass is a signature design trait of any Apple Store, the feature has led to serious security problems for the company. A number of smash-and-grabs have taken place during the past few years; in some cases Apple has installed extra security measures, like grating, but it isn't clear if this has made any dent in crime.

That is a REALLY strange place to open the first and LONG overdue swedish AS. It's really off from the city and there's not even a subway going there. Totally incompehensible decision. This is almost like a slap in the face of apple-users in Sweden and esp. us living in our beautiful capital. There's a large population living in the very opposite part of the city who would have to travel more than an hour to get there. We were all hoping that Apple retail would afford setting up a store in the very city, thus reachable for the large majority. Oh well, not the brightest guys in charge here.
