updated 07:48 pm EDT, Wed September 5, 2012

Solid-state stylus offers 'hundreds' of levels of pressure sensitivity

Previously seen only in prototype form, Ten One design has removed the veil of secrecy over its Blue Tiger project. Pogo Connect , the word's first pressure-sensitive Bluetooth 4.0 stylus is the new offering from Ten One. Available for preorder starting October 1, the Pogo Connect works at all angles and requires no calibration, providing hundreds of levels of pressure to current-generation iPad users.

The stylus has features beyond pressure sensitivity. A variable-color LED light adorns the stylus, which app developers can utilize. The Pogo Connect is supported by 12 applications. Available now are Brushes, Zen Brush, PDFpen for iPad, Procreate, FlipBook HD, and Sketch Club. Coming soon are GoodNotes, Noteshelf, Colors!, Paper, SketchBook Pro, and NotePad Pro.

To combat lost styli, the Pogo Connect comes with a built-in radio transmitter. The stylus broadcasts a signal that allows users to display the distance and direction to the pen on an iPhone or iPad, allowing for easy location.

The Pogo Connect's first 2,000 buyers will receive a special edition with a laser-engraved tiger graphic honoring the product's first name. The stylus retails for $80.
