OWC ships OWC Mercury AccelsiorM PCI-E mSATA card

updated 09:41 pm EDT, Wed September 5, 2012

Driverless card hosts standard SATA SSD, boosts IO speeds

Computer upgrade vendor OWC introduced the OWC Mercury AccelsiorM, a PC and Mac bootable PCI-E controller card that will accept any single 50mm mSATA SSD. The half-height card can utilize any open PCI-E slot, keeping drive bays free for higher-capacity storage. This controller card only model joins the Accelsior PCIe SSD line, which has mounts for two SSDs, versus one in the AccelsiorM.

The PCI-E card is a driver-free AHCI-compliant card running the Asmedia 1061 chipset. The card/drive combination is capable of 380MB per second read and write, but if the card is installed in a PCI-E x1 slot, then performance will be somewhat reduced.

Mercury AccelsiorM PCI-E cards require Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, or Mac OS X 10.6 or greater. The cards are available immediately from OWC, for a suggested retail price of $50.

Anyone have the link to the two drive card? Can't seem to find it on OWC.

Looks like the two-drive version comes with pre-installed SSDs. They may or may not be interchangeable.

These cards are also quite expensive.
