All-in-one system uses five inputs, Windows 7

Livestream has started taking pre-orders for its portable video production switcher. The Studio HD500 is an all-in-one unit that expands on the work done with Livestream's camera-mountable hardware encoder, the Broadcaster, by creating an all-in-one live production unit that competes against the established TriCaster live broadcast and editing systems.

Resembling a tower desktop computer with a screen in the side, the HD500 can perform live video mixing from multiple camera sources, live audio mixing, and can also handle titling and onscreen graphics. At the same time as broadcasting a HD multi-bitrate stream through the Livestream service, it can also record the video production to its own DVR. Up to five HD and SD SDI inputs can be used, with video-out through HD/SD SDI, HDMI, Component, Composite, and S-Video.

Inside the Windows 7 Professional-based machine is a six-core 3.2GHz Intel Core i7 processor with 8GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GT 520 Commercial Series graphics card. The entire system, including the built-in 17" 1920x1200 resolution monitor, weighs 15 pounds, and uses a pair of Blackmagic Design DeckLink cards for its main video-based inputs and outputs.

The entire system will start shipping in the US from October 15 for $8,500.
