Harman adds five streamers, two wired speaker sets to lineup

Revamp includes renovated Jonny Ive-designed Soundsticks


At Berlin's 2012 IFA show, audio giant Harman announced seven new products from JBL and Harman Kardon. Streamers JBL Flip, JBL Cinema Soundbar SB200, Harmon Kardon Soundsticks Wireless, JBL Micro Wireless, and JBL Cinema Soundbar SB 400 emphasize Bluetooth connectivity. The JBL Micro II and the Cinema Soundbar SB 100 round out the announcements.

The JBL Flip is a portable speaker parable with any Bluetooth 4.0 device. Two high-performance 40mm drivers, with a built-in bass port, and digital signal processing software extends frequency response on the high end. Frequency response ranges from 150Hz through 20kHz. The device has a built-in microphone, and a five-hour battery. September is the expected release month for the JBL Flip, at an expected retail price of $99.

The JBL Soundbar Cinema SB 200 incorporates amplifiers, controls, left and right woofers and tweeters, and a built-in subwoofer solution into a single soundbar offering up to 120 watts of power. Frequency response ranges from 60Hz through 20kHz. The SB 200 sound bar will be available for $299 before the end of the year.

Designer Jonny Ive's Soundsticks have been upgraded with Bluetooth technology for its 2012 re-release. Each satellite has 10W of power, and 20W drives the subwoofer. The Soundsticks have a frequency response of 44Hz through 20kHz. The new revision of the Soundsticks are due before the end of September for $229.

JBL Micro Wireless speakers is a pocket-sized Bluetooth speaker also featuring Bluetooth. The single 40mm driver has a 150Hz through 20kHz frequency response. The bluetooth version is available for $60, and a the wired-only JBL Micro II model is available for $40.

The JBL Cinema Soundbar SB 400 is a soundbar/subwoofer combo unit designed for large HD televisions. Two woofers, two tweeters, and an amp are mounted in the sound bar, which has 120W of power behind it. The SB 400 is available at retail for $550.

Available in wired-connectivity only, the Cinema SB 100 has a frequency response of 80Hz through 18kHz. Two woofers, two tweeters, and an amplifier is driven by 60W of power in a compact enclosure. The SB 100 is available at the end of September for $200.

    I've always loved the Soundsticks. I still use my original set that I purchased for my G4 Cube. (If anyone remembers that computer)
