Lenovo shows off Windows 8 laptops, AIO models

New PCs available starting in September

In addition to its tablet and other notebook announcements last week at IFA, Lenovo also rolled out an update of its Idea-branded consumer PCs. The new lineup includes ultrabooks and additions to its IdeaPad Y- and S-series laptops, as well as new entries in the IdeaCentre line of all-in-one desktops. The new PCs feature Intel Core processors or AMD A-Series processors, and all are optimized for the forthcoming Windows 8 operating system.

The IdeaPad U510 is a new 15-inch ultrabook that measures 0.83 inches thick and weighs 4.9 pounds. It features instant-on system resume (clocking in at just over one second), an Ivy Bridge Intel Core i7 processor, and as much as 1TB of HDD storage with an optional 32GB SSD. The U510 boasts a battery life of up to six hours, and it comes with an integrated DVDRW drive or Blu-ray disc drive. It will retail for $679, and becomes available later this month from Lenovo.

The IdeaPad Y400 and Y500 are designed for mobile gaming. Each features an Ultrabay, which is an interchangeable bay that users can swap out for dual graphics capability, increased storage space, or additional cooling components. Each supports up to an Intel Core i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce GT65 5M 2GB dual graphics, 16GB DDR3 memory, and 1TB of HDD storage. The Y400 has a 14-inch LED backlit widescreen HD display, while the Y500 has a 15.6-inch display. Both models come with a dual-layer backlit AccuType keyboard with a large one-piece touchpad, as well as integrated JBL speakers and Dolby Home Theater v4-a audio component. The Y400 and Y500 will be available in October starting at $650.

The IdeaPad Z400 and Z500 are said to be 25 percent slimmer than a standard laptop, and each features an Intel Core i7 processor. The Z400 has a 14-inch LED backlit HD widescreen display, while the Z500 has a 15.6-inch display. The models come with NVIDIA GeForce graphics technology and smart features like Intelligent Touchpad and access to Lenovo Cloud. The Z400 will be available in November of this year, starting at $549, and the Z500 is on sale now starting at $549.

The IdeaCentre A520 is a 23-inch all-in-one PC with a 1080p "Full HD" display. It supports 10-point multitouch, and its screen angle can be adjusted from -5 to 90 flat. Its IPS LED allows for viewing at a range of angles, and it features an integrated webcam for video chatting. It also has an Intel Core i7 processor with Intel HD Graphics 4000 and supports up to 8GB DDR3 memory. The A520 comes with up to 1TB of HDD storage. The unit also features Dolby certified speakers with Dolby Home Theater v4, an optional Blu-Ray drive, and an assortment of touch-optimized software offerings. The A520 will be available in October starting at $999.

The IdeaCentre B340, B345, and B545 AiO PCs are aimed at home entertainment enthusiasts. The B340 and B345 feature 21.5-inch displays, while the B545 has a 23-inch display. All three models output in full HD widescreen format with the option of 3D display. Each comes with two pairs of 3D glasses. The models come with up to an Intel Core i7 or AMD quad-core processors, and NVIDIA GeForce 615 2GB or AMD Radeon HD7470A 1GB graphics. They also feature optional TV tuners, allowing them to stream HD television content. The B340 and B345 will be available in October starting at $700, while the B545 will be available in April of next year, starting at $699.
