Lumia 820 shows up again in pre-release pics

updated 07:17 pm EDT, Fri August 31, 2012

New low-end Windows phone sports 335MB RAM

One of Nokia's forthcoming Windows Phone 8 handsets that was leaked earlier today in promotional photos may have been spotted again. This time, the Nokia 820 seems to have shown up being handled in live pictures posted to The new pictures don't reveal much new in the way of the phone's capabilities, but they appear to verify that the new Lumia models will be available in a range of colors, as appeared to be the case with the earlier leak.

The Lumia 820 will likely be the lower-end model among Nokia's new Windows Phone 8 models. It is said to be running build 8.0.9735.0 of Microsoft's mobile operating system. Details on its specs are scarce, but it's said to pack just 335MB of RAM inside. Aside from that, it looks to possibly sport a dedicated camera button, though the resolution of the camera -- as well as that of the device's 4.3-inch screen -- remains unknown. Despite the uncertainty on the camera's specific resolution, it is believed to feature Carl Zeiss optics and perhaps Nokia's heralded PureView imaging technology.

There is some question as to whether the model shown off in the new pictures is the same one seen in the leaked pictures earlier today. While the camera appears in the same place as today's earlier pictures, the model seen in the new pictures lacks the black surrounding shown in the leaked promotional pictures. This could mean any number of things: the pictured model could be an unfinished model, this could be a design choice particular to the white variant, or it could be an entirely other handset. All is likely to be revealed, though, when Nokia and Microsoft unveil the new handsets at a joint event next week. [via The Verge]
