Outlet will nearly double in size
Apple is planning to both relocate and expand its Towson Town Center store in Maryland, according to "retail sources" for ifoAppleStore. The new shop will be two floors further down within the mall, on the second level. It will also adopt an L shape and almost double in size, growing from roughly 4,200 square feet to 8,331.
The replacement store should be open by Thanksgiving. A number of US Apple Stores have been expanding and/or relocating during the past year; many of these date back several years, to a time when the chain was relatively new and Apple was still considered an underdog in the tech industry. Since then demand has grown rapidly, and some smaller outlets have had a hard time coping with traffic.
