Logitech pushes 3 headphones, 1 earphone into UE range

updated 12:02 pm EDT, Wed August 29, 2012

Active noise cancellation features across most of range

Logitech is bolstering its new Ultimate Ears range with four different headphones: one in-ear option and three headsets. Of the three can-style headphones, the UE 9000 boasts the highest price tag. Able to be folded flat like a pair of sunglasses, the headphones can take advantage of being both wireless through Bluetooth connectivity and its 10-hour battery, and through an optional cable connection.

Active noise cancellation helps to block out sound in the UE 9000, while the asymmetrical memory foam cushions, articulating joints, and over-ear design helps for comfort in long-period use. The cheaper UE 6000 also offers the active noise cancellation and foldable construction as its bigger brother, but dispenses with the wireless connectivity, while the UE 4000 does away with the noise cancellation as well. A detachable cable with mic and controls is supplied for all three headsets, as well as a travel pouch and 2-person splitter.

It is claimed by Logitech that its UE 900 Noise-Isolating Earphones gives a sound quality almost as good as the company's own UE professional custom in-ear monitors. Four-armature speakers and a three-way crossover in a universal fit apparently gives a faithful recreation of original recordings with an added low-end kick. Five silicon and three Comply Foam Tips are also supplied, while the ear loops help to give a secure fit. Two detachable, braided cables are provided, allowing the user to swap between having a mic and controls or not.

All of the headphones will be hitting Europe next month, with further international releases currently unknown. The in-ear UE 900 will cost around $400, while the UE 9000, UE 6000, and the UE 4000 will cost $350, $200, and $100 respectively. [via Engadget]
