Samsung adds new colors to the Galaxy S III range

updated 08:55 am EDT, Tue August 28, 2012

Samsung extends nature theme with new Galaxy S III colors

After launching the Galaxy S III with just two colors, Marble White and Pebble Blue, Samsung has now expanded the range of options to include six colors in total. While the Garnet Red model was subsequently added for AT&T as an exclusive, new colors include Amber Brown, Sapphire Black and Titanium Gray with marketing descriptions as colorful as the new devices themselves.

According to Samsung's marketing spiel, each of the new colors, as with the originals, reflect aspects of nature. Amber Brown is said to be "inspired by the mysterious and unique gem, which was believed to sustain the secrets of the earth inside it." The Garnet Red model is based on the Alamandite Garnet, which "was worn as an amulet by the ancient Egyptians who believed the stone contained protective powers."

Not to be outdone, the Sapphire Black mode is "inspired by the stones used by the ancient people of India and Persia for protection, with the belief they strengthened one's willpower." Titanium Grey will appeal to those with "intelligence, insight and curiosity. It is also said by Samsung to express the "feeling of modernity and wisdom bringing a futuristic element to the handset."

As with the AT&T exclusive, color availability will vary by carrier around the globe.
