Case turns iPad into MacBook Air lookalike
Accessory maker CruxCase has announced a Kickstarter campaign for its new CruxSkunk iPad attachment. The attachment essentially turns an iPad into a MacBook Air by providing a thin keyboard that connects to the tablet through Bluetooth. The project has already met its Kickstarter goal and sits at $226 above its $90,000 goal with 35 days to go.
The CruxSkunk leverages 8 pending patents to produce a frame that approaches Apple's design aesthetic. The case integrates a full-sized QWERTY keyboard with an aluminum frame. The device is 6mm in thickness at its base, and in combination with the iPad it measures 19mm in thickness. It also integrates Smart Cover technology, allowing it to activate and deactivate the iPad when opened and closed.
The project has already reached its funding goal, with 548 backers pledging a total of $90,226. With 35 days to go, the pledge drive is still open. Persons pledging $155 or more will receive a CruxSkunk with leather sleeve. Those pledging $250 or more will receive a CruxSkunk and leather sleeve engraved with the Kickstarter logo and their order number. For a pledge of $310 or more, one receives two CruxSkunks and two leather sleeves. Orders are expected to begin shipping in November of this year.
