Nokia's 'Arrow' shows up in USPTO filing

updated 09:07 pm EDT, Mon August 27, 2012

Device may be a low-end Lumia model

A recent patent filing appears to have revealed the design of a forthcoming Windows Phone 8 device from Nokia. Nokiapoweruser first spotted the filing, which was filed on August 21. The drawings show off a frame that looks similar to Nokia parts that leaked earlier in the year, and observers believe they may describe the Nokia "Arrow," a mid-range handset due to be unveiled early in September.

The device shown off in the drawings features a curved design reminiscent of the Lumia 610, but with changes to placement of the earpiece and the shape of the camera on the back. Should the designs indeed correspond to the previously leaked part images, the device will likely have a 4.3-inch screen.

Another Nokia WP8 phone was revealed in a patent application last year. That model is thought to be a higher-end device, dubbed "Phi." Both models will likely be introduced in early September, when Microsoft and Nokia will unveil the latest generation of Nokia smartphones.
