Victorinox offers full refunds for its USB flash products until end of the year

Known for its Swiss Army knives, Victorinox Swiss Army North America revealed that it will stop supporting software and security certificates on its line of secure USB flash drivers. The current ones are due to expire on September 15 on the Victorinox Slim, Secure, and Presentation Master products. Owners are urged to back up any secure data to avoid losing it permanently.

Files stored on the non-encrypted portion will remain on the drives. To avoid leaving a bad taste in buyers' mouths, Victorinox is offering a full refund until December 31 to those who wish to return their no-longer-secure thumb drives.

Depending on the model, the drives include an encrypted partition, fingerprint sensor, and secure password management, with all three features due to stop working. These features put the price point higher than competitors, however.

Victorinox didn't specify why it is ending support for the USB drives.
