Kinect to see price drop to $110, $80 Xbox Essentials due

Kinect gets a $40 price drop in the US, similar cuts coming to most other markets

The Kinect motion-sensing accessory for the Xbox 360 has received a $40 price drop in the US, with prices now set at $110. Other markets are due to get a similar though unspecified price drop as well, including North America, Latin America, Asia, and Pacific regions. Australians and New Zealanders won't get a price drop until October 4, however.

There are no plans to discount the Kinect in Europe, Japan, the Middle East, or Africa, however, according to Major Nelson.

At the same time, a new $80 Xbox 360 Essentials Pack is also up on Microsoft's site. It includes a controller, media remote, HDMI cable and a three-month Xbox Live Gold membership and represents $55 in savings when compared to purchasing these items separately. It's due to arrive in October.
