Kobo e-book reader upgraded for additional languages, Adobe DRM

The Kobo e-book reader app has received an upgrade, adding multiple language support. In addition to English, the app now supports French, Spanish, Italian, German, and Dutch localizations. In addition, Adobe DRM-protected e-books can now be loaded through iTunes and read on the application, and links embedded in PDFs can be tapped and visited through Safari. The Kobo application is available for free on the App Store.

PDF2DTP conversion tool released by Markzware

Publishing plug-in developer Markzware has announced PDF2DTP for InDesign. PDF2DTP provides an import path for PDFs into an editable format within Adobe InDesign 6. The plug-in can also recover embedded images and save them in a designated folder, while placing text, frames, images, and colors into an InDesign document. Any PDF can be converted, regardless of source. The Mac version of PDF2DTP requires an Intel-based device running OS X 10.6 or greater. The Windows version requires a Pentium III or greater, running Windows X or Windows 7. PDF2DTP is available now on the Markzware website for $199.

PowerSkin iPhone 4/4S case line renovated

PowerSkin maker XPAL power has redesigned its battery cases, unveiling the first of several new models for the iPhone 4 and 4S. Two new cases, in glossy black or limited-edition titanium, provide a 1500 mAh rechargeable battery, potentially extending talk time up to 5 hours, or up to 200 hours in standby mode. An included cable replaces the Apple USB cable, allowing data synchronization and charging, and LED indicators on the back display battery level and charging status. Both colors are available now on the PowerSkin website for $70, temporarily on sale for an additional 20 percent off through August 22.
