Nikon adds the J2 to its Nikon 1 lineup

Nikon has introduced a new mirrorless model to its Nikon 1 range, the new J2. The model is $100 cheaper than the J1 forerunner and includes some upgrades, but retains its 10.1-megapixel CX-format CMOS sensor. From a purely price perspective, it is one of the most affordable compact mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras on the market.

Among its feature upgrades over the J1 include a higher resolution 3-inch display that now incorporates 921,000 pixels. It body has a metallic look and feel, while it also includes a Creative Mode that allows users to add on board effects including scene modes and filters. Users can choose from Panorama, Selective Color, Miniature, Soft, Night Landscape, Backlighting, and Night Portraits. It incorporates Nikon's Expeed 3 processor that allows for taking shots at up to 10fps, with continuos shooting at up to 5fps.

The Nikon 1 J2 comes in red, pink and white. Unusually, Nikon has added a grip to the red and pink models, but omitted this on the white model. It is retailing for $550.
