Release likely to quash launch bugs
Apple is preparing to seed the first beta build of OS X 10.8.1 to developers, say sources for MacRumors. It's expected that the update will be a maintenance release, simply fixing any bugs that made it into the launch version of Mountain Lion. Apple has also likely been working on v10.8.1 for a few weeks already, since the Mountain Lion gold master reached developers more than two weeks before the OS went public.
Mountain Lion came to the Mac App Store roughly two weeks ago. Apple has mostly stayed quiet on its popularity except to announce 3 million downloads within the first four days, a figure which supposedly made the software "the most successful OS X release in Apple’s history." It's also likely being helped by an extremely low $20 pricetag.

Any idea if it addresses the situation where battery life under ML has fallen off a bloody cliff?
