Lenovo confirms full Windows 8 ThinkPad tablet

updated 08:59 pm EDT, Wed August 8, 2012

10 inch model will debut alongside Windows 8

Following the leak of specifications for the tablet at the beginning of August, Lenovo has finally confirmed the rumored ThinkPad-branded Windows 8 tablet. The 10-inch tablet runs Windows 8 on an Intel Atom processor, and replaces the current ThinkPad tablet.

The display is a 1366x768 IPS display, with a front-facing 2MP camera, and a rear-facing 8MP camera. Video output is provided by a micro-HDMI port. Wireless connectivity is provided by integrated 802.11n and optional 3G or 4G. A near-field communication (NFC) radio is installed, with biometric security provided by a fingerprint reader. A keyboard dock for the tablet will be available, which provides three USB ports, HDMI-out, and Ethernet.

Lenovo says the tablet will be available when Windows 8 is available at retail on or about October 26. No pricing is available.
