LaCie has re-engineered its UBS 3.0 lineup for Apple's new line of USB 3.0-equipped MacBooks. In this instance, LaCie has updated its range to support USB Attached SCSI Protocol (UAS) ensuring maximum data transfer rates.

Among LaCie's newly updated USB 3.0 devices is the RuggedKey that is IP-54 water and dust resistance rated that can also survive hot and cold conditions, as well as falls from as high as 100 meters. It also sports a transfer rate of 150 MB/s and comes in capacities up to 32GB.

Also upgraded are LaCie's Porsche Design P9223 and P9233 hard drives as well as its Rugged Triple. The Porsche Design drives offer transfer speeds up to 5Gb/s and come in capacities up to 3TB. The Rugged Triple can transfer data at up to 110MB/s and comes in 500GB or 1TB capacities.

The LaCie USB 3.0 range is available through Apple retail with the Rugged Key retailing for $40 (16GB) and $70 (32GB). The Porsche Design drives start at $160 for 2TB, while the Rugged Triple starts from $150 for 500GB.
