Apple updates entry-level IT certification for Mountain Lion

updated 09:58 pm EDT, Fri August 3, 2012

Other certifications remain unchanged so far

The first Mountain Lion training guide and IT certification for OSX 10.8 has been released by Apple. The Apple Certified Associate -- Mac Integration certification, first offered following the release of Lion, is available for free. The course does charge $65 to take the online exam, but one free retake is allowed. The guidebook for the courseware is only available as a PDF currently -- the Lion version was available from Apple's iBookstore in ePub format.

The study guide and certification exam includes information on system integration into an existing Windows-centric network. Apple describes the program for people who want to "integrate a Mac into an existing Windows or other standards-based network." The courseware promises to "guide you through the process of setting up your system to take full advantage of network services such as directory services, file sharing, printing, email, and more."

The Apple Certified Associate program is Apple's first certification program for Mountain Lion. Apple's other IT certifications haven't yet been upgraded for OS X 10.8, and the three certifications for OS X 10.7 Lion are still available.
