CrushFTP updates to version 6.1, adds S3, HTML5 support

Now compatible with Mountain Lion, adds bug fixes
Developer Ben Spink has updated his flagship file transfer server software, CrushFTP, to version 6.1. The new version offers a handful of major new features along with many interface tweaks and speed improvements, along with the usual assortment of bug fixes. The program, which handles FTP and SFTP file transfer along with HTTP and WebDAV, has now added Amazon's S3 protocol as a support transfer option and is compatible with Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8).
The program, which largely dispensed with Java dependencies after moving to a web-based interface in v6, now warns users if Java is disabled or not installed before attempting to load a Java applet. It also now supports HTML5 drag-and-drop for file uploads, and offers significant speed improvements for VFS and SQL integration. Users can now create a ZIP archive directly in the web interface, and file encryption is now based on the open PGP standard rather than a proprietary scheme, meaning encrypted files could also be opened by other programs.
In addition, the download basket now supports icon previews, and has been enhanced with additional action options. CrushFTP 6.1 has a self-registration with approval process, has added support for DMZ servers and now supports larger ZIP file sizes. Enterprise users can now manage multiple CrushFTP instances as well.
Among other more minor changes are the addition of streaming support for PGP and zip/unzip tasks in CrushTasks -- no longer limited to only local files -- and a fix for a memory leak related to SFTP usage. Also fixed were many UI issues in the User Manager, a problem migrating older CrushFTP 4 users to version 6 and higher, and the squashing of a bug when downloading ASCII files over FTP, along with many other issues.
Licenses for CrushFTP start at $40 for up to 10 users, and scale up to $100 for unlimited users. Special enterprise licenses are available, which provide bonuses such as extra tech support and free updates; these range in cost between $1,000 and $5,000, not including maintenance renewal.
