New claim leaves out talk of iPad, iPod possibilities
A third set of sources, this time for AllThingsD, are supporting the notion of a mid-September Apple press event. The people say that an event is at least scheduled for the same week as iMore's rumored September 12th date. While the new sources aren't saying what products Apple might show off, AllThingsD points to the company's large increase in component prepayments is a sign the iPhone is involved.
Several other devices may also be introduced at the event, of which the most important might actually be a "mini" iPad model. Apple is also rumored to be updating the iPod nano and/or the iPod touch; the Touch could get a larger screen, a smaller dock connector and/or a faster processor, mirroring some of the expected changes to the iPhone. The new iPhone is also thought to be getting LTE 4G, a relocated headphone jack, a new hybrid material back, and possibly NFC support.
