While Office 2011 may be compatible I'd love to see an update that at least gives the option to have Outlook notifications integrate with ML's Notification Center. Maybe everyone won't want that but I'd rather all my notifications come in the same way.

Number 1, this is a Mac site. If you don't like Macs, then go away. Number 2, what I said has all to do with the way Microsoft refuses to do things the Apple-way on Apple software. If you didn't understand what I was saying, then do some research instead of simply calling me a fanboy.

Please provide a reputable, objective analysis of Microsoft's software that will corroborate your thesis.

(I'm not a big fan of Microsoft but in the interest of fairness, I don't like false allegations against any company or person).

Yes, I read what you have wrote. I don't care. I could ask the same question why Mountain Lion has the option to block any software coming outside from their App Store automatically turned on as standard? Maybe Apple is the one who wants to control everything. I'm so sick of childish behaving Apple fanboys. Once they talked about Intel as the biggest devil next to MS. You know what happened. Than another stupid fanboy tried to explain to my why a full opened application window doesn't make any sense on a computer. You know what happened. Then there were those fanboys talking about MS and its Windows and how that OS terrorize them with some constant messages. Voila, welcome to notifications on ML.
And finally: I don't think that every software company has to do it in the Mac way because the Mac way is not always the best way. For example, I rather create my shortcuts right in the application (MS Word, for example) where I need 2-3 clicks to get the job done, instead of setting my shortcuts for Pages in the System Preferences, completely outside of the application which I want to adjust to my liking. How stupid is it to set shortcuts for the application in another application? Mac way???!!!
BTW, when I click on the red button it closes the Safari window but the program is still active. Interestingly, when I do the same on iPhoto, it closes the application completely. Now, give me a reasonable explanation why this is so, and what is the Mac way here? I have a PhD, but I don't get it. Same action on the same button produces a completely different result. Mac way? Get a life. I give Apple a credit where they deserve it and I complain where they deserve it.
BTW, 2 iMacs, 2 Macbooks Pro, 2 Cinema Displays, 1 Mac Mini, Time Capsule 1GB, first gen. iPad, 2 iPhone4, 1 iPhone 3G. That's my Apple equipment. That's probably more than what the typical MS hate driven Apple fanboys with their rosa Apple sunglasses will ever have in their life.

I;ve only used a dev preview so far, not the shipping version of ML but somehow I doubt that notification centre starts telling you things like "your computer is at risk" the second you boot it for the first time. Getting notifications you actually need or want is not something people complained at on Windows, it was the barrage of difficult to stop pointless messages about security settings. Last few clean XP installs I did, the first thing that comes up is a message saying "you need to fix your computer" before its even had a chance to break.

As for circumventing the Apple security policies, Office 2008 is older than the App store and Office 2011 was available without it so how can they push update via the app store?

Frankly I'm amazed that MS has got this update done so quickly. They normally take a while. They never should have taken so long in the past so its about time they got efficient.
