Some users may need to delete and reinstall
Late Wednesday, Apple delivered on an anticipated update of the Podcasts app for iOS. The v1.0.1 release promises "significant improvements to performance and stability," and additionally copes with several specific problems. It should for instance remember playback speed between episodes, and always show the Subscribe button where it should be an option.
Under Top Stations, artwork will now display properly; where art isn't available, a podcast's title will be displayed instead. The app's library, finally, will display the number of unplayed episodes for each podcast.
Some users are still reporting problems with the app, however, including crashes and freezing. One user-suggested solution, however, is to delete the app and its data and download it again as a new installation.
