Motorola reveals Photon Q 4G LTE running on Sprint

updated 05:30 pm EDT, Thu July 26, 2012

Slide-out keyboard marks departure from predecessor

Motorola has made the Photon Q 4G LTE official. The replacement for the Photon 4G was spotted at the FCC earlier this month, sporting a 1280x720 display and departing from its predecessor's design by including a slide-out hardware keyboard, running on Android 4.0 instead of Gingerbread, and connecting to Sprint's forthcoming LTE network.

The handset houses a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. A rear-facing eight-megapixel camera is matched with a front-facing HD camera, while the Colorboost display measures 4. -inches with an optional mirror mode when connected via HDMI. Sprint ID is also installed, and NFC support enables handset-to-handset sharing and mobile payments.

Pricing and availability for the Photon Q 4G LTE are currently unknown, though Sprint is expected to announce the release date within the next few weeks. [via Talk Android]
