Scosche Realm line boosted with four new models
Scosche has released the latest in the Realm line of on-ear, reference-grade headphones. The new models are all powered by 40mm drivers, and feature copper voice coils and rare-earth neodymium magnets. Ear cushioning is provided by viscoelastic memory foam that softens in response to body heat, and conforms to the listener's ear shape. Two models, the RH656md and RH656m on-ear headphones, boast Scosche's Siri-compatible tapLINE III control and microphone, which allows users to play, pause, adjust volume, activate voice control, and perform hands-free calling. The RH656md in black and RH656m in white retail for $130. The models without the microphone, the RH600bk (black) and RH600w (white) run $100.
Music industry hearing protected by Etymotic MusicPro earplugs
The MusicPRO line of electronic musician's earplugs are now shipping from Etymotic research. The earplugs combine two of Etymotic's passive hearing protection products, resulting in hearing protection that allows natural hearing when sounds are safe, and provides protection from loud, sustained music and sudden percussive swells. When the plugs are in enhancement mode, the sound of music and speech are amplified by the MusicPRO plugs. Two protection levels can be selected by the user -- one provides natural hearing when sound levels are safe, and the other supplies 9 or 15dB sound reduction when sound exceeds safe levels. The earplugs are targeted at symphony and jazz conductors, front-of-house personnel, entertainment industry support staff, and security personnel. The MusicPRO is priced at $400.
