updated 10:00 pm EDT, Fri July 6, 2012

Vulnerabilities affect Windows, IE9

In a posting on Security TechCenter, Microsoft today gave advance notification of security bulletins to be released on July 10, 2012. The vulnerabilities to be addressed affect Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer 9, Office, Server Software, and Microsoft Developer Tools. Six of the patches are listed as "Important," while the remaining three are listed as "Critical."

Bulletins 1, 2, and 3 affect Windows and Internet Explorer and are listed as Critical update components requiring a restart upon installation. They address vulnerabilities allowing malicious users to remotely execute code. The other bulletins address elevation of user privilege and information disclosure vulnerabilities.

Microsoft will be hosting a webcast to address concerns about the security bulletins on July 11, 2012, at 11:00 AM Pacific Time. A complete listing of vulnerabilities and affected software versions is available on the security bulletin advance notice site.
