Samsung S Health app aims to help manage nutrition, exercise

App takes readings from medical equipment, monitors fitness

Samsung has rolled out its S Health personal wellness application for the Galaxy S III. Mentioned in passing at the Samsung Unpacked launch event in May, S Health collects data from various healthcare sensors and meters, monitoring your health over time, and aims to help regulate exercise and personal nutrition, while aiding those with specialized medical needs.

Readings from various meters for blood glucose, blood pressure and body composition can be transferred to the app via USB and Bluetooth, where it is combined with manually entered data for diet, exercise, medication intake, and other related information. Readings can be tracked over time, and graphs can show how well or poorly you're doing in your fitness regimen. Social network connectivity lets users share their fitness-related achievements with others on Twitter.

S Health is available for download in the UK via Samsung's App Hub, and soon will be heading to the US and other European countries.
