Google creates online course for 'power search' strategies

updated 05:11 pm EDT, Wed June 27, 2012

Free two week course to educate users on effective searching

Google is accepting registrations for a free course on advanced search strategies. Power Searching with Google is being billed as a community-based online course to teach various Google Search tips and tricks to willing participants, which, according to the official Google Blog, will help solve many of its users' everyday problems.

Based on the Massive Open Online Course structure pioneered by Stanford and MIT, Google will teach participants using the various social services it provides. Google+ and Hangouts for question and answer sessions with experts, and Google Groups for collaboration with other students. Google employees will be available for extra assistance during the course.

Registrations are now open for the free course, which is set to take place over two weeks from July 10 onwards. Lessons are said to be released daily, and participants that complete the course are able to print a Certificate of Completion.
