Includes new dashboard, offline mode
Blogging service Tumblr has launched a major revision of its iPhone app. Now at v3.0.0, the app's interface has been completely restructured, for instance using a new Dashboard interface, a new image view, and shortcuts to the camera and text post functions accessed by swiping the Compose button. An offline mode lets users post, like, reply, or reblog at any time; actions are synced when back online.
Some other interface changes include tag search, radar, better post forms, and the gathering of notifications in a single location. Tumblr has also added Spotify support, upgraded photosets, and high-resolution images. Performance-wise the company is promising that it should be easier to tap items, and that the app should be faster, at least partly since people no longer have to wait for a post to upload.
The app is a free download, and runs on iOS 5.0 or later. Users must, however, have at least an iPhone 3GS or third-generation iPod touch.
