First HTC Windows Phone 8 phones and their main tech specs leaked

HTC will initially launch three Windows Phone 8-powered phones, TheVerge learned thanks to a tipster. The codenames include Rio, Accord, and Zenith, with the Rio being the entry-level device. It will reportedly sport a 4-inch, 480x800 touchscreen, a five-megapixel camera with 720p video capture, and a 14.4Mbps HSPA radio.

Processing power is said to come from a Qualcomm MSM8227 Snapdragon S4 Plus chip, likely clocked at 1GHz. It will be paired with 512MB of RAM, the source said.

The mid-range offering should be the Accord, which gets a larger, 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 screen with 720p resolution. It is believed to have NFC support, an eight-megapixel camera with 1080p video capture capability, and a 42Mbps HSPA+ radio. The processor will be a more powerful dual-core unit, likely to be the MSM8260A, though that's not finalized. It can run at between 1.5 and 1.7GHz, and will be paired with 1GB of RAM.

Lastly, the Zenith will top the range, with a 4.7-inch Super LCD 2 720p display and the same camera and HSPA+ connectivity of the Accord. The processor will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm chip.

All should come out later in 2012, with the Rio and Accord likely due out in October, while the Zenith is coming before the New Year.
