Touts creativity, consumption, Retina display
Perhaps by coincidence and perhaps not, Apple today began running a new ad for the iPad (seen below), the first for its market-dominating tablet in a while. The ad showcases the Retina display found on the latest iPad by demonstrating a variety of software running smoothly on the device, including emailing, book reading and media watching. The ad also makes time for showing off active uses, such as video editing in iMovie.
The recently-released iPhoto for iOS gets a quick cameo, as the user is seen briefly putting together a Photo Journal, at present a feature only found on the iOS version. The feature isn't meant as a replacement for the soon-to-be-defunct Mobile Me gallery, but does allow a public URL for sharing photos, notes, captions and date or weather conditions for a particular event.
Also seen in the "productivity" category are the use of a painting app, tweaking a Numbers spreadsheet with a pie chart, and utilizing an interactive widget in a iBooks Publisher textbook. The trailer for Disney/Pixar's upcoming film Brave is also seen in the ad.
