Podcasts said to get closer focus in iOS 6
The forthcoming release of Apple's iOS 6 mobile operating system may contain a change for podcasts that the tech giant didn't reveal at WWDC. Sources tell AllThingsD that Apple is planning to is planning to roll out a new native app with a specific focus on podcasts.
With the release of iOS 6, podcasts are said to have a dedicated app, where users can discover, download, and play podcasts on mobile devices. The move is similar to Apple's decision to split iTunes into a video and music app on iOS, as well as the decision to launch a separate iBooks app along with the iPad.
Should these reports prove accurate, the new app may explain the reported disappearance of podcasts from the version of iTunes Apple has been showing to developers.
