New Harman Kardon headphones only available through Apple
Harman Kardon has introduced a new range of headphones designed for iPhone users. The new premium range includes the NI, AE, CL, BT and NC models that range in price from $100 topping out at $299 some of which blend leather and steel. Although they are compatible with all types of audio devices and smartphones, they will only be sold through Apple’s online and retail outlets.
The entry-level model NI ($100) is an in-ear type. It incorporates 9mm drivers for a wide dynamic range and high sound pressure levels. It is designed to be lightweight and like all of the non-Bluetooth models includes an inline three-button remote for making and receiving phones while also controlling volume and the ability to skip tracks. The AE ($150) is also an in-ear type, but offers acoustic enhancements and aluminum casing for cleaner sound.
The CL ($199) is the only on-ear model in the range and is styled with metal hinges and a sandblasted metal finish. It utilizes 40mm drivers that include baffles that are designed to create and extended airflow extending bass frequencies. It also includes detachable cables.
First of the two over-ear models is the Bluetooth-enabled BT ($249) that includes an integrated microphone for making calls while allowing users to keep the headset on when taking and making calls. It includes remote playback buttons on the side of one ear cup. Battery life is 12 hours, although they can be manually connected to an iPhone for continued playback even when out of charge.
The top of the line is the NC ($299) over-ear model that includes digital active noise cancelling. It incorporates slow-retention foam in its ear pads for greater comfort that also provides further acoustic cancelling. The rechargeable battery offers a 30-hour life that can be recharged with the included USB cable. Like the BTs, the NCs can continue to be used when depleted of charge.
All models except the NCs are live on the Apple Store online.
